Postpartum :: What You Really Need

After nine months of growing your baby, doing the research, figuring out maternity leave, deciding on a stroller, working on your birth plan, it is time to have a baby! But what about YOU? What is your plan to take care of yourself when that miracle is earth side? Here is a look at what I found most helpful as my body recovered from birthing a baby!

My Postpartum MUST HAVES (Based on a Vaginal Birth)

Underwear

Bodily

Aerie Nursing Bra

Nursing Tank

Comfortable Essentials

Robe

Slippers

Blanket

Large Water Bottle

Comfy butter socks - also better to find some non-slip options

Hair Scrunchies and headbands

Pajamas - Nice to wear soft button up ones like these & these to make nursing easier

Soft, not too tight leggings - I lived in Lululemon Aligns

Personal Care

Earth Mama nipple butter

Nursing pads - I liked the reusable ones, but also had some single use ones

Face lotion

Hydrating spray - I loved having some mist to rejuvenate me throughout the day

Lip balm

Colace for constipation (another thing they don’t tell you about)

Taking Care of Down There

Ice Maxi Pads or homemade padsicles - Nothing says mother-daughter bonding like making some padsicles! These were something I made the day after getting home from the hospital and was soo happy to have them when my stash from the hospital ran out - here is how we made them.

Frida Mom Upside Peri Bottle - way better than what they give you at the hospital

Frida Mom Witch Hazel Perineal Healing Foam

Dermoplast - Numbing/Anti-Itch Spray

Period pads - I was soo surprised by how long the bleeding lasts after childbirth (we are talking like 6 weeks..)
